So excited to share our upcoming fall event in NYC! We’re finally doing it outdoors at Governors Island and we’ll have all of the space we need and want to properly sprawl, lounge, and leisure to our hearts’ content! I’m hoping for a crisp autumn day so we can wear cozy layers of flannels, cardigans, and maybe even some scarves.

We're bringing two ways to gather at Governors Island: our first-ever CAKE PICNIC 5K and, of course, CAKE PICNIC itself. Come for one, come for both (sweet maxxing?!) – either way, there will be cake to enjoy! I hope you’ll say yes to embracing autumn, spending a day outside, and creating magic together. Our friends from Pistakio and Grüns are also joining to share some surprises and sweetness.

I want to see all of the variations of pumpkin spice, brown butter, toffee, salted caramel, coffee cake, black sesame, kabocha, caramel apple, cinnamon everything, and more! Bring your best fall flavors and let’s have a great autumn picnic with hundreds of cakes.

CAKE PICNIC 5K

Run, jog, or walk a scenic 5K buttercream route around Governors Island, then celebrate at the finish line with a seasonal slice of cake, an official race bib, and a finisher medal. You don't need to bring a whole cake for this one, just yourself, your running shoes, and the best vibes.

NYC CAKE PICNIC (Fall Tour — Sweet and Spooky)

Bring a whole cake you're proud to share and join us as Governors Island fills with hundreds of fall-inspired cakes and thousands of slices. We're leaning into everything sweet, cozy, strange, nostalgic, and a little bit spooky this season with our optional theme: sweet and spooky.

  • When: Saturday, October 17, 12-3PM

  • Where: Governors Island, New York, NY

  • Tickets: CAKE PICNIC CLUB tickets available now. GA tickets will become available on September 10, 2026 at 6PM EST. Set your alarms!

  • What to bring: One whole cake per person, minimum 8 inches wide and 3 inches tall, on a cake board, no aluminum/tin pans

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are the 5K and CAKE PICNIC the same event? No — they're two separate events on the same day at Governors Island. The 5K is a run/walk with a cake finish-line reward; CAKE PICNIC is our classic gathering where every attendee brings a whole cake. You can get a ticket for either one or both.

Do I need two tickets if I want to do both? Yes. The 5K and CAKE PICNIC are ticketed separately, so you'll need a ticket to each event if you want to do both.

Do I need to bring a cake for the 5K? No. The 5K only requires running shoes and your appetite; you don't need a whole cake to participate. You'll get a seasonal cake slice at the finish line instead.

If I only sign up for the 5K, do I still need to bring a cake to enter CAKE PICNIC afterward? Yes. A 5K ticket does not include CAKE PICNIC entry. If you want to stay for CAKE PICNIC, you'll need a separate CAKE PICNIC ticket and a whole cake, same as any other attendee.

Does the "sweet and spooky" theme apply to both events? The theme is optional and mainly for CAKE PICNIC cakes and costumes but feel free to lean into it for your 5K look too, but it's not required for either event.
