GIVING

At its heart, CAKE PICNIC is rooted in generosity — not just in the cakes shared, but in the impact created beyond the table. Through each tour, CAKE PICNIC has partnered with and donated to local and global organizations aligned with food access, community care, and creative nourishment. By gathering people around cake, we are also able to give back to the places that host us, extending the spirit of abundance from the picnic table into the wider community. The organizations below reflect the causes and communities CAKE PICNIC is proud to support.

If you are a non-profit or charity that would like to partner with CAKE PICNIC, please reach out to elisa@cakepicnictour.com and danny@cakepicnictour.com. Thank you!

  • Mama's Kitchen: Mama’s Kitchen believes that everyone is entitled to the basic necessity of life – nutritious food. Our services improve the health and well-being of individuals and families vulnerable to malnutrition due to critical illness.

  • Haight Ashbury Food Program: The Haight Ashbury Food Program (HAFP) is neighborhood-based, volunteer-run, and funded by individuals who care for their neighbors in need. We are committed to a program based on compassion, respect and empowerment. HAFP's mission is to support the principle that freedom from hunger is a right, not a privilege. We exist to provide meals and referral services to those in need while fostering a sense of belonging and self worth for all involved.

  • Project Open Hand: Project Open Hand’s mission is to improve health outcomes and quality of life by providing nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable, caring for and educating our community. We believe food is medicine and provide meals with love.

  • Cake4Kids: A simple act of kindness can create a moment of incredible impact. At Cake4Kids, that kindness comes in the form of a homemade cake, cupcakes, or cookies — a sweet reminder that you are cared for, you are supported, you matter. These small gestures become powerful moments of warmth, joy, and belonging for the children, teens, and young adults we serve. It's more than just a dessert. It's joy. It's love. It's hope — one cake, one birthday, one story at a time.

  • California Association of Food Banks: California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) represents a network of 41 food banks throughout the state, who in turn partner with 6,000 charitable agencies to distribute food to around 5 million people in need. On average, every dollar donated to a food bank provides $6 worth of food. Our mission is to end hunger in California. Our vision is a well-nourished and hunger-free California, where all people have enough food to lead a healthy life.

  • Bake the Change: Bake The Change is a student-founded nonprofit home bakery dedicated to turning sweet treats into meaningful change. We partner with local home bakeries, primarily our flagship project ABC Bakery, to produce and sell homemade baked goods, donating 100% of profits to the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research, patient care, and community programs. Inspired by personal family experiences with cancer, we believe that every cookie and pastry can truly make a difference. Beyond fundraising, we provide care packages, baked goods, and handwritten letters to patients and families as a reminder that they are not alone. We also promote public awareness of cancer prevention and early detection, while engaging youth in meaningful volunteer opportunities.

  • Moms Against Poverty: Moms Against Poverty was launched in 2008 by individuals who believe every child deserves a chance to thrive regardless of where they are born. Since then, Moms Against Poverty has grown into a network of like-minded individuals who believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can radically change a child's life. We believe in teamwork, integrity, and honesty and are passionate and committed to empowering impoverished children while respecting their individuality and maintaining their dignity and self-esteem.

  • CITYTEAM: Since 1957, Cityteam has been serving people in extreme poverty and helping them transform their lives, families and communities where they live. Today with the help of volunteers and donors, Cityteam is impacting the lives of over 500,000 people each year here in the United States with a variety of vital programs including shelters, food boxes, familiy services, recovery programs, and Heritage Home, long-term compassionate care for homeless, poor or abandoned women who are pregnant and have no where else to turn but the streets.

  • RareBreak.org: Every child deserves a chance to grow up, but for children like Jojo, life is a race against a "rare break" in their DNA. When you donate to RareBreak, you aren't just giving money; you are becoming a lifeline for children fighting SCN8A, a devastating disease that relentlessly erases the ability to walk, talk, and play. Because these conditions are so rare, they don't receive big pharmaceutical funding—their only hope lies in the compassion of individuals like you. Your gift directly powers a mission to develop life-saving gene therapies and use cutting-edge AI to rewrite the future of medicine. Donations turn "impossible" into "possible," protecting a child’s brain from permanent damage, and helping to ensure that a "rare break" no longer means a broken future.

  • 18 REASONS: 18 Reasons is a nonprofit community cooking school on a mission to empower our community with the confidence and creativity needed to buy, cook, and eat good food every day. To achieve this mission, we offer three food education programs. At our 18th Street Kitchen in San Francisco, we host paid cooking classes with chefs from around the world, and ticket sales help support our free programming for low-income families. Through our free Cooking Matters and Nourishing Pregnancy programs for low-income families, we offer grocery donations, cooking and nutrition classes, and peer support. We are the only organization in San Francisco that offers free, hands-on cooking classes and free groceries to low-income adults, families, and kids.

  • Second Harvest Heartland: Second Harvest Heartland's mission is to end hunger together. We cannot do this alone and rely on our corporate partners and their employees, who graciously donate their time and financial resources to ensure no one goes hungry in the communities we serve."
